Purpose of data processing
Moodle is an internet-based learning platform. It is used for organization, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of training courses. This includes:
  • Provision of teaching and learning materials and exam modules
  • Archiving of learning materials
  • Tracking of participant progress
  • Communication and collaboration between lecturers, participants, and administrative staff
  • Collection of participant feedback on course quality
The respective lecturers are responsible for the contents of the Moodle courses.

Categories of personal data concerned
Data on identification characteristics (name), contact details (email address), usage data (access data, activity data) are processed.

Legal basis for the processing
Legal basis for the processing of identification characteristics and contact details is contractual obligation (Art. 6 Par. 1 Sentence 1 Letter b GDPR). Legal basis for the processing of usage data is legitimate interest (Art. 6 Par. 1 Sentence 1 Letter f GDPR).

Recipients of the personal data
We cooperate with service providers who support us in the implementation of the learning platform.
Anonymized evaluation data on a course is forwarded as feedback on the course quality to the respective course's lecturer(s).

Storage period
Your personal data will be deleted:
  • Upon account deletion (upon user request)
  • 2 years after the last sign-in

Course activity data (e.g., forum posts, test results) will be deleted upon the deletion of the course contents.

Rights of the data subject
If your personal data are being processed, you are a data subject within the meaning of the GDPR and have the following rights vis-à-vis the controller:
  • Right of access, Article 15 GDPR
  • Right to rectification, Article 16 GDPR
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"), Article 17 GDPR
  • Right to restriction of processing, Article 18 GDPR
  • Right to data portability, Article 20 GDPR
